Self referring is also about not cheating and being able to listen to others to take a good decision.
This is not what I’ve seen from some players at WUC.

I used GA as example because they are objective as non players and try to have best perspective. I love that GAs often say that their perspective was not good enough. But when it is, it should be respected, else it’s a clear cheating situation, and players often seem helpless around those.

Spirit of the game must be enforced (by the rules and players, if not officials).
There is a difference between GA makes a call and Best perspective should not be contested.

Self Referring in Ultimate is not a binary situation. Some situations are clearly out of the player’s hand/eye, but they still have a say and a possibility in the heat of the game to fail SotG.

Watch Canada France Mixed and tell me how to make it a fair game.

Oh, I see, you mean “throwing in motion / while running” but being in the endzone at this moment.
    Looks like you are right.
“Not establishing a pivot point” goes against the “not in” rule when throwing in motion with the new travel rule. 👍🏻
Could be fun to use it

If we talk about junior ultimate, I think Game Advisors and experienced players (neutral if possible) should be around most of the time to make sure that the game is spirited and smoothly rolling.

For adult players that should know and respect the rules, everyone should make sure the sideline is silent during calls.
During plays, it is common knowledge that anything from the sideline that could be misinterpreted into an on-field call should be avoided (even a simple sentence like “you can call a time-out” = someone could here timeout and stop playing).

I think you can warn teammates and opponents about infractions but should be careful on the way to phrase it (“call x!” should be absolutely avoided).

I don’t see anything wrong with the rules..
If you score, you score (no pass possible). If you don’t score, you have to have your pivot point out of the endzone before passing.
You can have most of your body in the endzone as long as your foot is on the line… and make a pass from there.

I love the strategic usage of that rule, but as a D-line player, let me get my double happiness with my lane! 😭

Only if the pick is due to the defense positioning / switching error, it should not be a pick.

Great video made by Hive Ultimate explaining this problem and how defense can abuse this rule, break the flow and re-position while creating the pick on their own.

I feel like the new increased distance of the mark is rarely respected. It should be called out more often, on the field, on the sideline, in the spirit circles (before and after the game), in the spirit score (play by the rules).

Although – 1 is not much of a threat, a marking violation would set the stall back to 0 (1), so it would be interesting to clarify and add more to the marking violation rule. 😉
(example : the mark makes a straddle – called by the thrower, on another possession the same player makes another straddle, this could be a marking violation – as the player was already warned)

The basketball comparison is unfair, as with the ball, you kind of keep possession and yourself benefit from the extra touch.
In ultimate, it is said that you cannot tip the disc to yourself but you can tip it to a teammate. This applies to the disc you threw yourself.

You can argue that since you cannot catch the disc, you should not be able to make a play on the disc over someone else, that would be interesting.

    Disagree.
Most players at a decent level would count a bit too fast and start the stall as early as possible which makes the stall easily 7-8s instead of 10.
We are often too focused on the teammates’ cuts to react to the stall and other current marking infractions.

As a D-line player, I would love to make more stallouts but I think good defenses are even better valued when denying a stall 10 possession.
Stall 6 emergency hucks wouldn’t benefit the game I think. 😅

I guess if you move to occupy the path towards the disc, it makes it a legal box out.
It is illegal to only block a player without making a play on the disc. 😉

I love this, but I wouldn’t make it a rule. It could be set as a Good Spirit in communication and shared as such in the mixed division.
I’m pretty sure teams prefer not being force into doing it.

Although 35+ players may be too many, I would rather set the cap around 21.
In France, the Federation doesn’t allow to register to multiple clubs, so if you don’t make it into the main roster, you don’t have a team to play (if there is no B team).
Having big rosters also allows you to bring new players and make them experience high level ultimate, even if it’s for a few points. I think this is the best way to make new generations of players into the club.
Our games are 100 minutes, playing 5 over the weekend. It is already very demanding.
It is clubs/teams/players’ problem if some players only play a couple points in a game, we shouldn’t make a rule for it.

    Hope that helps.
    Cheers
