I thought I had read something about this in the rules or rules interpretations, but now I can’t seem to find it.
Situation:
– receiver catches the disc close to the line and slows down to stop and stops in-bounds
– on the moment of the catch it is not clear whether the receiver was in-bounds or out-of-bounds (example his toes might have touched the line)
– no one on the field had a clear view on the moment of the catch, no one called “out”
– one teammate (of the defensive team) that was close to the line and had a good view of the play thinks the receiver was touching the lineA teammates on the line, not playing the current point is he considered player or non-player?
Can he make calls (for example call “out-of-bounds”)? Does it make any difference if he’s the captain of the team? What should happen in this situation?
The receiver believes he was in-bounds when he caught the disc.
The player on the line believes the receiver was out-of-bounds. Can he call “out”? Or can/should he tell his teammates on the field to call “out” eventhough they didn’t have a good view on the play? What is considered good/bad spirit in this case?
Thanks,

Rule 15.6 says that “Any opposing player may claim a violation” (out-of-bounds is considered a violation).
And the definitions define Player as “One of the up to fourteen (14) persons who are actually participating in the current point of play.”
So a teammate on the sideline cannot make an out-of-bounds call. However if a call is made, the players involved can ask the sideline for their advice.
