Two Players Running Towards Same Point

Suppose I am sprinting in a straight line. If a defender starts sprinting towards the same point as me so that we would collide if we both kept sprinting but I still have time to avert the collision, my understanding is that this is not a foul because no contact has occurred unless it is dangerous play. Is this correct? Do the rules effectively force us to play a game of chicken until the last moment in which contact or dangerous play can be averted?

This seems like where 12.6.3 would be used:
“If a player is not reasonably certain that they will be able to make a legal play at the disc before an opponent who is moving in a legal manner, they must adjust their movements to avoid initiating contact. If that adjustment is made, the result of the play still stands.”
As the defender started moving to the point after you already had, the defender would need to adjust their movements.

Hi, Reuben. Thanks for your response.

Would the same rule not apply to me though if neither of us were reasonably certain that we would be able to make a legal play on the disc before the other? If I adjusted my movement before the defender to prevent a collision, would play not stand according to this rule?
