Defender can call a foul on them-self/their team to avoid a turnover

A defender can make a call against them-self (or their team) if in the absence of a call there would be a turnover. This would seem to be consistent with the spirit of the game.

This is mostly for an experienced defender marking a novice offence player but also applies when an experienced player can see that a turnover will occur, yet their team has fouled the offence.

I don’t feel that this is explicitly covered in rules 1.8 and 1.9.

The proposed wording is designed to avoid a marker making a call against them-self when the disc is caught by offence and slowing the game down.
