Currently A.6.4 only requires a team to do so on the request of the captain and also only on offence. With the gender pull rule in play, it is also important for the offence to be able to tell the gender match ups.
I also think it should be an annotation in the normal pull rules. This would make it easier to reach lower leagues and promote gender inclusivity in the ultimate community overall.May 27, 2024 at 11:56 am #5629Paula BaasParticipant+1

It ensures gender match-ups are correct, ensures gender pulls are correct and removes any cases of mistaking fmps for mmps and vice versa.
Perhaps this signal could even replace, or at least accompany, the raised hand/raised disc as a symbol of readiness that is currently required before the pull? The only problem I have run into with this so far is that it has often created confusion when players ask for which gender majority is currently correct. I think this is due to people not being used to this concept and a lack of communication and tracking of ABBA by the teams, it would however be good to emphasize that the current gender majority should be shown on the sideline and teams must make an effort to keep track efficiently – i.e. reiterating what the current gender majority is at half time with the other team.

I’m pretty sure teams prefer not being force into doing it.July 22, 2024 at 7:56 am #5793JanaParticipant+1
I think it’s a great idea, as it helps to avoid situations in which genders are assumed just by the appearance of people. I feel that these situations and potential misgendering can be particularly uncomfortable and even harmful for young players.July 28, 2024 at 8:25 pm #5806Christian SchneiderParticipant+1
PS: I think we should also add a gender marker to the score board to keep track of ABBA, similar to the counters for time-outs. This would simplify things at the (IMHO minimal) cost of having to move one more thing when scoring a point.
