19.1.3. Injury & “charged” time-out

    Hi. I have a question re: 19.1.3.

19.1.3. If the injury is not the result of contact with an opponent, the player may
choose to be substituted, or may choose to charge their own team with a Time-
    Out.

What does “charge” mean here precisely? That the player’s team effectively loses a time-out because of this injury call?

Presumably the overall outcome is that if a player calls injury without contacting another player, they must either a) leave the field, or b) their team loses a time-out. Furthermore, I presume that if they choose b) and do not have any time-outs left, the stall is increased by two. If the stall is already higher than 7, what happens? For instance, a player pivots and twists an ankle.

    Thanks

    Hi Brummie

“Presumably the overall outcome is that if a player calls injury without contacting another player, they must either a) leave the field, or b) their team loses a time-out.”

    Correct.
Note: The team doesn’t actually get to take the timeout (ie have a break to discuss tactics etc).

“If they choose b) and do not have any time-outs left, the stall is increased by two.”

No. In this instance the player has no choice but to leave the field.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers
